Dream date

Hey there,

It’s been a while! 🙂 We have been super busy here in Chicago, celebrating the great wins at Wimbledon for the Wilson team (6 titles!), preparing for US Open and 2013! It’s been uber hectic around the office but good things are happening and I have loved being here to enjoy the Chicago summer. There is definitely fun to be had in this city…(more on that at a later date!)

So onto the important stuff…. everyone has their dream date or their “free pass list” right?! Mine would be something like having dinner with Ryan Reynolds at Piccolo Sogno, sharing a spaghetti neri Lady and the Tramp sytle (he better give me the extra meatball or shrimp!) or surfing at home in Indialantic with Kelly Slater followed by a beach bonfire!! LOL

Well that’s my dream but for others, it is to meet some of the world best tennis players to have a hit and some fun conversation over lunch….. Hence, our Win a Date contest! So FINALLY, after our required legal checklist, we can announce the winners…

Drum roll please……………………..

So the winners to have a date with Feliciano Lopez and Petra Kvitova are………………

William Thach & Jennifer Ray!!!

Our sincerest congrats and look forward to meeting both of you!

So now in the next few days we will try to coordinate these wonderful peoples schedules to meet up with our players schedules… not easy! But we’ll get ‘er done!

Wilson Tennis, making dream dates come true!!! 😉

WILSON SWEEPS 2012 WIMBLEDON JUNIOR SINGLES TITLES

Wilson’s next generation players, Eugenie Bouchard and Filip Peliwo, made Canadian history this weekend by capturing the 2012 Girls’ and Boys’ Wimbledon Singles titles respectively. Bouchard, playing with her Wilson Steam racket, became the first Canadian to win a junior Wimbledon Singles title and captured the Girls’ Doubles title with Townsend. Fellow Canadian Filip Peliwo won the Boys’ Singles finals with his Wilson Blade 98 racket.

“Eugenie and Filip have a bright future,” said Renaud Vallon, global tour director of Wilson Racquet Sports. “Wilson’s next generation are extremely passionate about the game and are committed to excel. We are proud to support our young players and give them the tools they need, as they continue their pursuit for more wins.”

Bouchard took the opening set in 29 minutes before starting the second set with a break. It took her one hour to earn victory and claim the title that propelled her early career forward with a giant leap.

Peliwo fell behind 5-2 in his first set, but fought back winning five straight games to take the first set. With strong momentum in the second set, the 18-year old powered his way through to a win.

The Wilson Steam is  a light weight and powerful frame with great stability for maximum spin. Top tour players Kei Nishikori and Petra Kvitova use the Steam. The Wilson Blade Team flex and pinpoint accuracy make it the racket of choice among top professionals, including Serena and Venus Williams.

Hey there!!!
Well, yesterday was the first day of qualifying at Roland Garros and it was a big day… especially cause it was Mario’s birthday! 🙂  HAPPY BIRTHDAY MARIO!!!

Not sure how important birthdays are to you, but in my mind, they are always important and need to be MEGA memorable. lol  Well, not sure we could top Mario’s celebration for his 30th last year, but we tried our best to make it a fun one…..When you travel so much for work/tennis, you are hardly ever home to celebrate the special occasions with your closest friends, family and all the people you love…  not easy….. our solution last night? Have a great meal and some laughs! 🙂

So  now back to the work talk….the qualies started with the guys yesterday and we had a lot of Next Gen players in action. This is my favorite part of the tournament, watching the up and comers, grind and fight their way. There is something more raw about the fight to get to the top, before they are stars. Don’t think a lot of people realize how many matches you have to win in a lifetime to even reach the Top 200….. Next Gen’rs Filip Krajinovic, David Goffin and Andrey Kuznetsov won which was awesome and today, the girls start.

Yesterday, we were able to get some solid footage with our players…..wow, when I look back to 4 years ago when I started our social media, it was just me shooting video & photo with my little Sony digital camera,  just coming up with random ideas and no one quite understanding, getting blank looks at meetings & people wondering why I have a job (ha!)…. And now, everyone is sooooo into it… everyone/all brands have a Facebook pages, most have social media teams, tweeting is a common term, all marketing groups call themselves ‘digital agencies’ and everyone thinks they are a social media expert….. Let me say that there is NO such thing!!!! The way we communicate today, may not be the way we communicate 3 days from now…..

It was easier in the ‘good ol days’ when people considered social media an experiment, but now everyone weighs in….. I could go on about this for ages… but let’s just say it’ll be extremely interesting to see where social media evolves and shifts to next…..

Today will be a hectic one, we have many of our Next Gen women in action: Ajla Tomlanjovic, Lauren Davis, Elina Svitolina, and many more….and we will try to get some cool stuff with our Wilson Exclusive athletes too….. let’s hope for a warmer Wednesday!!! 🙂

Until later,

Tracy

Big timing

Vika Azarenka practice ends, Roger Federer’s begins

So yesterday/early this morning, I was praying for players to show….. well, the power of prayer is strong. 😉

Today, we were able to shoot video of Roger Federer, Victoria Azarenka, Serena Williams and many other players.

It’s not very often where we work with our big guns all in the same day and they all practice on same day and are on the same schedule etc… it was crazy!!

The coolest thing of the day was having Vika practice first with a full crowd and then the frenzy be elevated even more when Roger arrived to practice on that court directly after. To have two of the sports top players in the same little space, well it was deafening noise from the crowd!!

We ended up getting more than what we hoped for, so now it’s a matter of going into the editing room and actually creating the video. Can’t wait to see!! 🙂

It has been a super long week and I am looking forward to doing the ‘normal’ work……..This is probably the most conflicted I have ever been about a shoot, so many parts were so awesome….. and there were SOOOO MANY challenges that totally took us all out of our comfort zone…. guess it’s like anything else, you work hard enough and push yourself beyond your comfort level,  you end up with exceptional results.

Now it’s 1:15am and it’s time to catch up on emails, review the Mardy Fish video from LA and oh yeah, maybe get some sleep!! 😉

Cheers to the challenges….

Until later,

Tracy

Buono notte!

So the past few days have been super productive and we were able to get some great shots of our 2013 apparel, shoot one of my favs Alexandr Dolgopolov and even got Mike  & Renaud to do some manual labor!! haha (Check photo)

It’s Monday night and it was a day of unexpected rest. Today we had a day off because of Roger Federer, Serena Williams and Vika Azarenka reaching the finals of Madrid. They are the final players we needed to shoot and today was a travel day, so now we will stay here in Rome to await their arrival.

What you may not think about is that it takes an incredible amount of planning from all sides to make photo shoots & video shoots happen. Even if we make the perfect plan, there are always many variables….match results, weather conditions, injuries, preparations to play, it often shifts and we must adjust. We have been extremely lucky to get the footage we have on site and to do this leading into the French Open is really intense.

I was never a great player and to me it is INCREDIBLE how players like Roger, Serena and Vika are able to keep their focus & level so high, with so many outside commitments to sponsors, to the tournament, to media, etc….. amazing. That makes them great in more ways than one.

So since we had a day off, I was able to play tourist for a few hours and visit the Trevi fountain. There were a crazy amount of people there, but I was able to get my photo and make a wish…. I wish to come back to Rome! 🙂

Let’s cross our fingers and hope we get some good stuff with our players tomorrow!

Until later,

Tracy

Serena Williams Wins 40th WTA Title with Wilson Blade; Lucie Safarova Wins Doubles Title with Wilson Juice at Family Circle Cup

Serena Williams, 27-time Grand Slam winner and two-time doubles Olympic gold medalist, claimed her 40th WTA title yesterday in Charleston, S.C., with her Wilson Blade Team tennis racket, defeating fellow Wilson player Lucie Safarova 6-0, 6-1 in the finals of the Family Circle Cup. Williams has had a Wilson racket in hand for all 40 of her title wins.

“We extend heart-felt congratulations to Serena on her impactful win yesterday,” said Renaud Vallon, global tour director of Wilson Racquet Sports. “She has won countless matches over the course of her renowned tennis career, and this is certainly an impressive milestone we knew would be close at hand.  This will no doubt be a strong year for Serena with the form she’s in and the dominance she’s currently showing in the WTA.”

Not all was lost for the singles finalist; Lucie Safarova volleyed with her Wilson Juice 100 tennis racket to take home her first WTA doubles title with partner Pavlyuchenkova.

“I am playing some of my best tennis with my new Juice racket and, after reaching the finals of singles and then taking the doubles title, I am just more pumped for the next tournament!” said Safarova.

Wilson tennis rackets continue to bring results on the WTA Tour.  In just the first four months of 2012, 13 titles have already been won with a Wilson racket.

Tennis Public Service Announcement

This video series was inspired by the drug PSA’s in the late 80’s & early 90’s… (yes, I am showing my age!) 🙂

So you saw the 1st PSA with Bryce and now Australian Open Girls Doubles Champion Gabby Andrews gets the opportunity to show her acting by playing UBER badly and then really do her thing, by hitting the ball HUGE!!! During the shoot, it was funny because our videographer Robin had Gabby hit the ball directly at him and she clocked him with a forehand!! I think he was surprised about the pop on her shots!! Must be the Wilson tennis racket! 😉 haha Gabby is definitely a player to watch, so keep an eye out!

We will have a couple more of these fun short vids, that we hope you find funny and make you smile a bit.

Have an amazing weekend filled with chocolate eggs! 😉

Until later,

Tracy
