Like a forehand, low to high!!

Vika Azarenka w/ Juice vs. Serena Williams w/ Blade for the US Open title

Vika Azarenka w/ Juice vs. Serena Williams w/ Blade for the US Open title

So two days ago after feeling quite a low, and now a high…I’mmmmmmm baaaaaccckkk!! LOL

It was a great day for the Wilson team as Victoria Azarenka fought back to defeat Sharapova and Serena Williams took care of business with a straight set win against Errani to make it an all Wilson US Open Women’s final.

Vika was super impressive as Sharapova has been playing well all tournament, so to fight tooth and nail like that was awesome. Just shows where WILL and DESIRE can get you. After a long day on the court, Vika was nice enough to meet up with the winner of the Twitter contest Kylene Murray and her daughter Aya.
4 year old Aya might be the cutest kid I’ve ever seen and was so excited to meet Vika…she was very clear that “It’s not VIKA, it’s VICTORIA!” 🙂 So I was wrong, again… LOL To meet your first pro tennis player is always a treat for any aspiring player. For Aya to have the opportunity to meet and give Victoria a hug after a BIG semifinals win at a GRAND SLAM, get to go to the players lounge and run into Redfoo from LMFAO, well doesn’t get much better than that!!! Aya had a present for Victoria too, her gold medal that she won… very sweet!! There is nothing better than seeing a kid be psyched on tennis and just be a happy kid… makes all of it worth it!

Clearly the tournament is not over for team Wilson, we press on… and now it’s raining.. 😦 so it looks like another long day. Luckily for Robin and I, it is raining cause it gives us more time to prepare for whomever potentially wins the final. We have a couple of surprises lined up.. let’s hope we can get it done in time…
Good news is Robin and I have not killed each other YET…. we are almost there!! LOL I haven’t spent this much time consecutively with anyone outside my family and my first boyfriend… kinda wanted to keep it that way, but what we do for the brand!! haha All joking aside, Robin has done some great work these past few weeks and we just have 3-4 more things to finish off….glad to have him on the team.

Other than that, the best part of being in NY is getting to spend time with my Mom and my sister. As some of you may know, my sister Trina works for the USTA in Communications, so I get to see her in our ‘drive by’ hello moments between meetings and our work obligations. Trina was a great junior player and came back to the game in her business life and is doing some super fun things for the USTA. If you see the pieces with the chefs like Morimoto, David Burke & Chicago chef Tony Mantuano, that’s her thing… yeah, the foodie obsession runs in the family!! Totally jealous of that project for sure!!

Anyway, just a couple more days left…. better get back to work!

Until later,

Tracy

It takes an army- G’Day 2- Australian Open 2012

Jacob Martin and Clement Moral discuss tennis string

Well, today we set up the suite!

When we got here we had over 50+ boxes calling our name. Between the rackets, bags, string, grips and everything, we really are tennis’ traveling circus!! haha

We are fortunate enough to have some great people like Dianne B and our team in Chicago that get all our stuff here and make sure we are geared up for the players. It takes an army for this Tour Team to be successful!!!

Everything went pretty smoothly today, no big hiccups and we definitely got an upgrade on the suite this year…..think the players will be happy.

I know Jacob, Clement and I are enjoying it thus far…. we have a Nespresso machine to keep us well caffiened up to stay awake and fight our jetlag!!! 😉

We managed to catch up with Milos Raonic a little bit as he is staying at the same hotel as us. He is coming off a great win in Chennai…he told that before the final, he had not packed his bags, so after collecting the trophy, he rushed back to the hotel, packed his bags and hit the midnight flight to Melbourne to make it to play the popular Kooyong exo, which starts tomorrow. It’s amazing how much changes in a year…. he was qualifying here last year and now he is a legit title contender!! It’s awesome to see our Next Gen fulfill their potential.

Tomorrow qualies starts, we will be scouting & watching some of our 2012 Next Gen’rs…… so we will be on site, trying to bring you guys some fun photos from the tourny.

Until later, check out a little video of the suite here: http://www.twitvid.com/MTOS5

PS the photo is of Jacob and Clement, geekin out and talking tennis string… looks like they are doing a string challenge… could be something new for 2012, right?! 😛

Groth swings Wilson BLX to 1st WTA Tour title

Swinging her Wilson Pro Open BLX racket, Jarmila Groth capped a breakthrough summer winning her first Sony Ericsson WTA Tour title at the Landsky Lighting Guangzhou International Women’s Open tennis tournament.

“I’m feeling great!” exclaimed Groth. “This has been a great year for me…. I’ve had some of my best results with my BLX racket and I want it to continue!”

Groth, who reached the Round of 16 at both the French Open and Wimbledon, was a solid first seed throughout the week in Guangzhou, losing just 15 games total, which marked the least amount of games lost en route to a title this year. She ended the career week off with a 6-1 6-4 win over fellow Wilson player Alla Kudryavtseva. Groth’s title win catapults her into the Top 50 on the WTA Tour rankings for the first time in her career.

“Jarka is having a strong finish to the year and we can only expect for her to build on this great result,” said Massimo Calvelli, Wilson Global Tour Director. “We look forward to watching her have strong 2011.”

Jarka Groth wins her 1st WTA Tour title

Quick questions with Jarmila “Jarka” Groth……

How are you going to celebrate the title win? I am here alone so don’t have anybody to celebrate with and also tomorrow I am flying to Seoul where I am playing on Tuesday. But I am sure my husband celebrated it for me with my coach 🙂

Who is more competitive, you or your husband? Do you ever get competitive with each other (ie board games, etc.)? We both are very competitive way, too much, so if we want our marriage to work can’t play any games against each other otherwise one of us will get angry 🙂

What is the weirdest or funniest Tweet you have ever received?  Funny tweet I got? hmmm Maybe, the one when I was asked if I will play Wimbledon next year?!:) but otherwise I get lots of them who support me which is awesome!!

What do you love about your Wilson Pro Tour BLX racket? I always loved my rackets! I been with Wilson since I started and I can say it’s the best. I love the feeling of it and I always know I can count on it and I know it’s mine and can feel everything I need to 🙂 and it helps me win!!

Mardy Fish won his second straight tournament and 10th straight match, swinging his Six.One 95 BLX tennis racket to beat Isner 4-6, 6-4, 7-6 (4) in the final of the Atlanta Tennis Championships.

“Feels awesome to be winning,” said Fish. “With my fitness level being at its best and having my BLX racket that I know I can count on, I have no frivolous worries and focus on the important things on court.”

Fish, who won in Newport earlier this month, defeated Isner in a scorching 2 hour, 45 minute match with the on-court temperature nearing 150 degrees.

In Eastbourne, Ekaterina Makarova swung her Tour BLX racket through eight matches to win her first WTA Tour title in Eastbourne. Makarova defeated five Top 20 players, including Azarenka 7-6(5) 6-4 in the final, to become the first qualifier ever to win the AEGON International title.

Using his Pro Tour BLX racket, Michael Llodra served and volleyed his way to defeat Garcia-Lopez 7-5 6-2 and take the AEGON International title in Eastbourne.

“Preparation for the grass court season is extremely short, so it’s very important for our players to play as many matches as possible,” said Wilson Global Tour Director Massimo Calvelli. “To see great results like this leading into Wimbledon bodes well for our team.”
