BE NEXT with Wilson & Meet Roger Federer

Hey there,

Well, it;s 5:15am here in Paris and been up for a few hours already. Jet lag stinks!

Just got here yesterday with Nathan our new racket dude, as we will be doing a couple events with Spin Effect Technology this week. Today is Paris and we will have be at Tennis Club de Paris. I love that club and hope today goes well!! We will see! 🙂

Yesterday, I’m sure you saw Roger pull out another great win to hit 36 consecutive Grand Slam quarterfinals and 900th match win. WHOA!!  Even if it’s a rough day like yesterday, he finds a way to win… he shows is a champion each time he steps on the court… simply amazing….

And it just doesn’t stop on court, Roger wants to motivate the NEXT GEN to play tennis. Kids have the chance to meet Roger at this years US Open!!!

Go to http://www.wilson.com/benext to enter for your chance to win.

It’s a photo scramble game, which is super fun… I tested a few times before the start and I have to say I am rather impressed with the times people are bringing in. Fastest completion time thus far is 5 seconds… WTF?! They must really want to meet Roger!!! haha

Good luck and until later,

Roger Federer leads Wilson Next Gen

Hey there,

Well, it’s almost Roland Garros time and we wanted to share this new video from Wilson Tennis and Roger.

Roger is not only a champion, but a great person and as you can tell from the video, a very happy and relaxed guy. It was so fun to see him hit with the kids… I think we all remember the first time we hit with someone we looked up to and needless to say, these kids were in seventh heaven!!!

In the next couple of days, you guys will get to know the kids in this video a little bit better…. some super talented young Wilson junior players: Bryce, Raquel, Bogdan and Ronnie!!!

We hope you enjoy this video as much as we did shooting it.

Stay tuned for the kids blogs!

Until later,

William Thach and Petra Kvitova

William Thach and Petra Kvitova

Hey there,

So yes, I know how to spell offense, but it’s a terribly horrible pun that I will explain! 🙂

Today Facebook contest winner William Thach met Petra Kvitova. William is a biochemical engineer that is a tennis fanatic. I was truly impressed with his knowledge of tennis, social media and most importantly, food!! 🙂 So we documented the whole day (stay tuned for the video that will be out Monday August 27th) but let’s talk about what you won’t see on camera!

So after a great intimate lunch with Petra, William was nice enough to try and assist me with returning the table we used for the “romantic setting” … and who stops by to say hello from a long hiatus? None other than fellow Guinness World Record Holder Andrea Petkovic!!! 🙂 It’s great to have Andrea back on tour, we’ve missed her so much and I’m so happy to have her smiling face back at the courts!! Anyway sidetracked… so William is helping me with the table and trips and takes down a fence!!! In front of Andrea!! Andrea says, “I don’t know these people!” HAHAHA Sorry, William…. no ofFENCE!! 😉

So after that smoothness, we needed to grab some food and in my randomness, we went to try out some local food carts!!! As you foodies know, this is a huge trend in LA and is kind of growing all over…. especially, New Haven!!! LOL They had a whole road of carts and William’s Mom and I went for the Vietnamese, Robin went for Falafel and William went for Chinese…… I loved that William and his Mom were up for anything and joined us on a random food experience! We then went on an excursion for gelato and landed in New Haven’s Little Italy… which had NO GELATO?! REALLY?! Is that allowed?!

Anyway, all in all it was a good day, William was awesome and his best quality? Making fun of Robin! Asians stick together!!! haha

Tomorrow we have work to do: cover our Next Gen’rs and Exclusive athletes in Open qualies action!

Until later,

Cy Dofitas, Mike Steck, Erika Offerdahl, Tracy Almeda-Singian & Mario Vergara after a successful US Sales Meeting with the Wilson crew

Hey there,

Well, I am going to make this a quick one as I have been up for about 19 hrs straight…..

Last week went really well and I am really proud to say that the 2013 videos were super well received and now all I have to do is negotiate music rights..kind of fun to do that since I never really am part of negotiations! Gonna utilize my lawyer skills! ha

All the other parts went rather well too, our whole team pulled it together and made things look amazing!! Not kidding when I say this, We have THE BEST TEAM!! Hands down….Seriously, it always keeps me motivated to see the crew so amped to succeed… nothing is better to help keep pushing you forward then to see others push the envelope when you are exhausted!!  Anyway, now we only have to make minor adjustments to certain parts of items to meet the language issues for each country… my fault, I did not think of that!! WOW, should’ve known right?! 😉 Rookie mistake with the new position.

Now that we are through sales meeting, my summer in Chicago is officially over… it’s been a blast to spend weekends with my friends, enjoy the great weather, restaurants and everything Chicago has to offer!!! I finally caught the Chicago Air Show for the 1st time!!  And got a killer view of the Blue Angels flying by my balcony!! AMAZING!!

US Open qualies starts tomorrow, but I’m in New Haven for tonight as we will meet up with Petra Kvitova tomorrow so she can meet her Facebook Win a Date winner William!!

I feel uber bad that I didn’t have time to catch up with the winner tonight as I have done for past winners, but seems like I am struggling to balance everything…. One thing is for sure, there was definitely work that needed to be done, so was glad to get it done….Just wrote 3 scripts for upcoming 2013 diddy with the one and only Federer… let’s hope the bosses like it!!  🙂

Until later,

PS Do you like the Seinfeld reference with Summer of George?! 🙂

Wilson’s next generation players, Eugenie Bouchard and Filip Peliwo, made Canadian history this weekend by capturing the 2012 Girls’ and Boys’ Wimbledon Singles titles respectively. Bouchard, playing with her Wilson Steam racket, became the first Canadian to win a junior Wimbledon Singles title and captured the Girls’ Doubles title with Townsend. Fellow Canadian Filip Peliwo won the Boys’ Singles finals with his Wilson Blade 98 racket.

“Eugenie and Filip have a bright future,” said Renaud Vallon, global tour director of Wilson Racquet Sports. “Wilson’s next generation are extremely passionate about the game and are committed to excel. We are proud to support our young players and give them the tools they need, as they continue their pursuit for more wins.”

Bouchard took the opening set in 29 minutes before starting the second set with a break. It took her one hour to earn victory and claim the title that propelled her early career forward with a giant leap.

Peliwo fell behind 5-2 in his first set, but fought back winning five straight games to take the first set. With strong momentum in the second set, the 18-year old powered his way through to a win.

The Wilson Steam is  a light weight and powerful frame with great stability for maximum spin. Top tour players Kei Nishikori and Petra Kvitova use the Steam. The Wilson Blade Team flex and pinpoint accuracy make it the racket of choice among top professionals, including Serena and Venus Williams.

And so it seems…..

Hey there,

Well, it’s 6:30am on a Saturday and yes, I am awake!!! Now I know I mentioned that I am not going to London for Wimby, but heeellllooo it doesn’t mean I am not working!! 🙂

So today, I was up early AM to prepare some questions/items and went over a few things with Robin, who is in London. We will have Paul Henri Mathieu do some video at his hotel on the new 2013 tennis shoe. Now I can’t tell you much about the shoe, but Paul Henri has been part of the development process the past 1-1 1/2 years and we are really excited about this shoe. The footwear team is killer and has created something that will make you super fast! 😉

Besides that, after an awesome Friday night dinner at my favorite Italian restaurant in the Chicago, Piccolo Sogno (spaghetti neri fruitti de mare!),  I had a phone call at midnight with the westcoast crew who shot the video in Rome. Steve B is the lead on the project and he is definitely a character…he was making fun of me for taking a work call at midnight on a Friday, but last time I checked he was on the phone late night too!! haha We’re in the process of putting together footage of Roger, Vika, Serena, Milos, Mardy and more…. I’m definitely psyched to see what he brings to life!! 🙂

And so it seems like I am coming down with a heavy cold, which is weird since the weather is so good… maybe it’s cause I’ve had about 3 1/2 hrs of sleep?! Who knows?! 😉 lol So I am going back to bed for a couple of hours and then will try to enjoy the day BEFORE the insanity of the tournament REALLY begins…..

Happy Saturday!

Until later,

PS Wimbledon draws came out yesterday, check them out here

Favorite quote: “You miss 100% of the shots you don’t take” – Wayne Gretsky

Craziest tennis moment:  Probably making 3rd round of the US Open doubles last year with Taylor Townsend. It was sort of a shock to me since I never considered myself an even average doubles player. It was definitely cool but if you ask anyone that worked with me previously, me making it that far in doubles is almost laughable. But it gave me a ton of confidence and now I’m almost top 100!

Stanley Cup or US Open trophy:  Both!

One word to describe your personal style:  Laid back

One word to describe your Wilson racquet: The best! I love it. It endures my racquet throws pretty well too. Kidding.

Top 5 songs to listen to before a match: Honestly I don’t really listen to music much before a match. So here’s what I do like

1. Anything Skrillex
2.  Anything Sammy Adams or Mac Miller.
3. Anything Luke Bryan.
