No rest for the wicked

Team Crossfader King for Greg Olsen & CH Robinson Kicks for a Cure

So today is Sunday and while the players have a day off from matches at Wimbledon, I am recovering from playing a Greg Olsen Kicks for a Cure charity kickball tournament in support of cancer research and more importantly, we have been grinding on the Olympics and 2013!!!

This morning was filled with trying to complete a little piece for the Olympics and going through photos, videos and adjustments with Robin…. have to say it’s a lot more difficult for us to get things done when I am not at the tournament and don’t have the option of talking it through face to face, pointing at what we are looking at, going thru music together and just being able to make sure we are on the same page…guess distance is something I need to get used to….

Write now I am writing a blog because I am totally stalling on writing the real deal… I really need to get this ready for the Roger Federer shoot in a couple of weeks. Ever have writers block or just not feeling like doing something?! Totally guilty of that right now. Sometimes you get uber confident in where you are and what you have ready, only to find out that you really still have tons of work ahead of you….

Think right now my dad would say, STOP DILLY DALLYING!!

So I am going to move on and attempt to get it done before tomorrow morning.

In the meantime, check out some great photos of the first week at Wimbledon.

Until later,

Stayin Alive

Is it a photoshoot?! No it's the French Open!

Is it a photoshoot?! No it’s the French Open!

It’s Wednesday, officially the 4th day of the tournament, but the Wilson team is on day 10…. not that we are keeping track or anything! And in the word of the Bee Gee’s we are Stayin Alive! 🙂
It’s been an extremely productive past few days for me and the Digital Marketing team (Robin and I)..We have been able to get some great footage of our Wilson Exclusive athletes Philipp Kohlschreiber, Feliciano Lopez, Paul Henri Mathieu, Anne Keothavong and Mandy Minella…. it’s great to have athletes that are kick a** tennis players and are also very ‘marketable’….. Robin took some amazing photos that looked like they were out of a photoshoot, not intense play at a Grand Slam… hats off to RF, he is elevating our level… his stuff is a bit better than what I was capturing on my blackberry… haha…. In addition, it’s also an extreme positive for me that I get to speak to someone through the day instead of running from court to court by myself, I have officially stopped talking to myself through the day! 😉
So we were able to get an Inside the Life with Next Gen’r Vasel Pospisil… he’s a very charming kid with a big serve and big game… watch out for him on the grass and hard, he will definitely be a player to make waves this year…. the video will come out later this week…. that is, if we stop shooting and actually have time to edit!!! It’s a running joke between Robin and I that we will have an edit day so we can get the stuff out… but so far there has been none. There is just too many awesome things happening and in video ‘they say you can never have enough’…. so today we will have 10 players to shoot! lol
Today we meet up with Wilson team France to do the protest to keep the Juice and Steam legal! Should be interesting…. I have no idea what to expect and how many people will show up… all I know is that Robin and I have to walk a bloody mile with camera gear and computers. NOT SO GLAM! 😛
So just a couple more days of Paris for me and I can’t wait to come home and see the Chicago team, sit in my cubicle, eat by the windows and carry on with my friends during the Chicago summer.

Until later,

Rock n Roll- G’Day 10- 2012 Australian Open

Tracy Almeda-Singian, Vika's agent Meilen Tu & photographer Robin Fenlon post Azarenka match

Well, just sometimes we get to rock it out. Last night I caught the 2nd full match I’ve ever watched in 4 years at Wilson as Vika Azarenka took on Dellacqua. As I have said before, in this job everyone thinks we are hanging out just watching tennis, but truth is, we don’t see much.

The first match with Wilson I watched in its totality was young Simona Halep playing Jankovic at US Open a few years ago, a crazy 3 set match. She just fell short of pulling the upset 7-5 in the third set….. Simona had asked Renaud and I to watch her match. She has always been a great Wilson player and one of the most helpful when we need something assistance with videos,  tickets etc and it meant something to her have our support. We had been there when she won French Open jrs, qualifying for French Open main draw and now it was her first time on Ashe stadium, against a seed. I just remember being so proud of her as she fought and was growing into her potential right in front of our eyes. It is so much fun, watching players develop and now Simona is legit Top 50, has wins over US Open champs Kuznetsova and Li and keeps climbing.

So my second match experience as a Wilson person was much different. I watched world #3 and newest Wilson team member Vika Azarenka.    She doesn’t really know me and it was important for us to be there , show our support to her know just how happy we are to have her on the Wilson team. And let me tell you, This girl is a ROCKSTAR. I love her fiestiness on court, I’ve never seen a girl really be able to absorb the power of their opponent so well and then play with her own power the next ball. She is a serious contender for the title. Above that, Vika brings some serious energy to the court.. she starts each match walking through the tunnel with headphones and hood, Rocky style, she called out the crowd, sticks out her tongue when she wins and brought some crazy glasses for her post match interview…. seriously awesome. Think doing video with her is going to be a blast.

Besides getting to watch a bit of tennis, it was super fun because Meilen, Vika’s agent, was a player that I played with and have known since we were kids and  Vika’s coach, Sam also happens to be Meilen’s husband, so it’s always solid to catch up with them and it’s great to see them have the success they are having in the industry… two of the hardest workers I know. Vika’s team is super fun, I was continually saying when she hit winners or aces that the shot was “Juicy”… lol think I was driving her fitness coach JP nuts- hahaha…. think Juicy is going to stick for all shots hit with the Juice!! 🙂 Use it in a sentence today! 😉

So enough fun for one night, time to get back to work. We are going to try and shoot some video with Vika today and get other footage around the grounds as usual.

Until later,
