US Open- Saturday August 27th

Andrea Petkovic & Mardy Fish with Guinness World Record Judge Mike Janela

6 hours of sleep in 3 days is not a good thing, but it was definitely worth it!!!

We are proud to say that Wilson Tennis is proud to officially own the Guinness World Record for the “Most people to bounce a tennis ball on their tennis racket in one location”!!!

It was a crazy day for the Wilson team and we started the morning at 4am to make sure we had everything ready for the Guinness event and it was incredible to have so many people on hand for this event.

I have to say that it’s humbling and an honor to have so many great people assist us with the event. To make an event of this size happen, it would not be possible without our volunteers. THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!

We all pulled together and it was an amazing experience.

One of the coolest things about my job is that I often get to combine my interests with the sport & brand.

I always had a Guinness book as a kid and tried to figure out a way to get into the book and now WE ARE IN THE GUINNESS BOOK!!! AMAZING!!

Knock that off the bucketlist!! 🙂

And the day didn’t end after Guinness, it was onto our 2012 photoshoot!!!!! We spent the rest of the day shooting Juan Martin Del Potro, Feliciano Lopez, Petra Kvitova & Kei Nishikori…. some exciting stuff to come in 2012!!

Stay tuned.

Much more to write but should probably help the boys in the suite.

So for now, check out the recap video of Guinness

Until later,

Sporting Wilson Tennis gear from head to toe, Jarkko Nieminen and Anne Keothavong are playing some of their best tennis this week.

Jarkko Nieminen wore his Wilson Tour Vision sneakers and swung his Wilson Six.One 95 BLX tennis racket to speed past Blade 6-0 6-2 to reach the Stockholm semifinals.  It’s been a fantastic back half of the year for Nieminen, as he reached the finals of Bangkok and the quarterfinals of both Tokyo and Metz.

“Wilson is an elite performance brand and playing with the best stuff out there is helping me play some of my best tennis,” said Nieminen. “As Wilson’s first exclusive player, it’s nice to see the tour presence grow so that players around the globe recognize just how great Wilson is with all products.”

Nieminen will now take on Soderling for a spot in the final of the Stockholm Open.

In Luxembourg, Anne Keothavong swung her Wilson Tour BLX racket to reach the semifinals after defeating fellow Wilson player Iveta Benesova in three sets. Coming back from injury earlier this year, Keothavong has been climbing back up the ranks and has found her form this week, with wins over former Top 10 player Schnyder and former Top 20 player Razzano.

“Wilson has always been there for me for my rackets and with the new apparel, it’s just fantastic. There is definitely buzz around who’s wearing what in the locker room and it’ll be great to have even more players on the Wilson Team.”

Keothavong will play Vinci as she vies to reach her first WTA Tour singles final.

Wilson Next Gen player Dimitrov reaches career high on ATP World Tour

Wilson Next Gen player Grigor Dimitrov is on the rise. Swinging his Wilson Six.One Tour BLX tennis racket to victory, Dimitrov took home his 2nd ATP Tour challenger title in Bangkok and lift his ranking to a career high #146 on the ATP World Tour.

“It’s a great feeling to be touted as a player to watch,” said Dimitrov. “But winning is most important and my BLX racket is helping me do that.”

19 year old Dimitrov has been in great form through the summer, winning 4 ITF Pro Circuit Futures tournaments and the ATP Tour Geneva challenger on clay courts and then capturing his win in Bangkok on hard courts.

“Grigor has the great ability to play on every surface and has a lot variety in his game,” said Massimo Calvelli, Wilson Global Tour Director. “Sometimes those capabilities can take a bit longer to come together, so it’s nice to see Grigor already having success. We are excited to see what the future holds.”

Dimitrov will play another ATP Tour Challenger in Bangkok this week.
