Jacob Martin, Milos Raonic and Mario Vergara

Hey there,

Well it’s Friday, last day of qualies, and it feels like I have already been here an eternity and the main draw hasn’t even started yet!!
Maybe it’s a hangover still left from last years US Open?! LOL

The last couple of days have been super productive, we have been working on things to show just how much Wilson is involved in the US Open. Wilson and the USTA have been great partners for over 30 years… we have been the Official Ball for 34 years and we are also the Official Stringer for the tournament. We also run a store on site that is located in Armstrong. One thing you may not know is that almost everyone that works in Wilson HQ in Chicago works the Wilson store. It is our opportunity to make sure we connect with the tennis fans/players and get feedback so we always can improve and make the best products possible. It’s uber hardwork for 3 weeks, but everyone is awesome at it!! Come say hello!! 🙂

Being in NY always has a certain amount of energy that no other city in the world has and the US Open brings the best out of the city in a time of the year. Most people are normally in the Hamptons chillin, but everyone comes back to see the best tennis players rock it out in Flushing!!!

Players have pretty much arrived: Serena Williams, Roger Federer, Victoria Azarenka, Mardy Fish, Grigor Dimitrov, Milos Raonic, Philipp Kohlschreiber, have all been on site practicing and doing their sponsor commitment events in the city.

Last night was nice for me as I managed to have dinner with my Mom and my uncle who live here in NY and on my way back to the hotel, I ran into Andrea Petkovic!!! Andrea was on her way back to her hotel from the Taste of Tennis which is a fun foodie event. I know I said this in a blog prior, but I’m just really happy to see her back on tour, she is such a good person for the WTA as she is not afraid to show her personality, ham it up a bit when needed and just all in all have fun and enjoy it!! She is a ROCKSTAR and it’s GREAT to have her back.

Anyway, Robin and I are at the hotel now, editing video and making sure we have stuff ready for next week.  Later today we will shoot stuff for our HOPE campaign (more to come on that) and we will be going to MSG for a special announcement later this evening.

Until later,

Tracy

US Open Day Q1- The good and the bad

Are you joining Mardy on Friday? Come help us set a Guinness World Record

So ok, it’s 12am and I am sitting in the suite, trying to get through emails and do the thing I am supposed to do for Wilson, social media!! I actually miss writing posts and interacting and it’s been less than 24 hrs of not doing it!! haha

Right now, it’s a crazy time for us, we have the Guinness World Record event with Mardy Fish and Andrea Petkovic coming up on Friday (RSVP for event) and on top of that, we will have a photoshoot on Friday and Saturday with some of our top players like Juan Martin Del Potro & Petra Kvitova….trying to multitask on things this big…. not too easy.

So today was spent ungripping junior rackets for the Guinness event to make sure they are ready to go for 7:30am on Friday!!! And tomorrow will be much of the same…. this is what I like to call b***h work…. so that’s the bad part….

The good part is that the Wilson Next Gen’rs are playing well and ready to make their move on tour! Keep an eye out for big hitters Kristyna Pliskova, Laura Robson, Jessica Pegula, Benoit Paire, Kristina Mladenovic, David Goffin and more!!

Some good qualies matches on tomorrow, so hope to see you on site.

Alright back to the grind before another day of prep work….

Until later,

Tracy

Andrea Petkovic joins Wilson World Record Attempt

WTA Tennis World #11 Andrea Petkovic announced that she will join Mardy Fish in Wilson’s attempt to set the Guinness Book of World Record for the “Most people to bounce a tennis ball on their racquet in one location” on August 26, 2011 at the Billie Jean King Tennis Center in Flushing Meadows, NY.

Petkovic is having a stellar year, using her Wilson Six.One Team BLX racquet to win her 2nd career singles title, reach the quarterfinals of Australian Open and French Open and catapult her to a career high #11 in the world.

“We are psyched to have Andrea on board for the event. Her fun and energetic personality is perfect for getting everyone on the courts,” said Mike Steck, Wilson Racquet Global Director of Marketing. “And we can’t wait to see what dance moves she busts out after we break the record!”

Fish and Petkovic are encouraging kids to get fit and get into sport. One of the first things players learn when starting tennis, is to bounce the ball on their racquet and the Guinness World Record attempt will have players of all ages do just that.
