Hey there,

Been a long time since we wrote an entry….I’m back for a little while on the social media gig…. so will just give you a quick update.

It’s May and clay court season is in full swing. It’s been successful so far for the Wilson team!!! Our head to toe player, Jarkko Nieminen won the dubs title and Philipp Kohlschreiber reached the singles semis in Munich…and now our Next Gen’rs have had some of the best wins in their careers to date…. Grigor Dimitrov beat Djokovic today, Laura Robson took down Radwanska and Madison Keys defeated former Roland Garros champ Li… Madrid is treating Wilson players well so far!! 🙂 I love seeing our Next Gen’rs do well… it’s always fun to see!!

As you may know, we were shooting some new stuff in Indian Wells and Miami in March, so the crew and I have been working on getting these videos/tv spots ready for this summer. At the same time, we are working on 2014 and getting all the other things we need ready for next year. Prepping this stuff has been my main focus and therefore I am not on the road as much through this summer.

Jacob and Robin will be heading to Rome this week to shoot a few things with a few players….. It’s really one of the most beautiful places and definitely a must do on the tennis calendar if you ever get the chance!! I will miss it for sure! Jacob and Robin better hit my favorite restaurant while they are there!

So the stuff we are working on now? Well, we are getting there little by little and can’t wait to show you the end results!!! For now, here is a little behind the scenes of our shoots….we are extremely fortunate to have some of the most fun players on tour, so even through rain storms, we had a blast!!!

Hope you enjoy!

Until later,

Milos swinging his Wilson Blade 98 in Kooyong

Hey there,

Well, it’s 4am, I’m trying to catch up on emails and things that need to be attend to back in Chicago….we were going to have Robin write an entry on here, but he is slacking so you are stuck with me again! 😉

It’s been an odd and challenging past couple of days and it seems like it will continue to get even more challenging…. oh where should I begin?! Well, let’s start with the fact that the tournament has now said that we cannot shoot our own players on site during practice! As you know, we have shot all our players the past couple of years and how a tournament thinks they are able to control ALL people from taking video on site, well that is just crazy…. they actually told us that if someone is to use an iphone video they would need a media sticker to be allowed to shoot video on site…. good luck with that one Oz!!!

Then there is the physical challenge…. Jacob was sick yesterday with fever, I have been having fever and stomach issues for 5 days and as Anna would say, “Having things depart” a bit quickly. LOL, then Robin got crazy sunburn from shooting Milos at Kooyong, cause a super pale guy from the UK shouldn’t use sunblock, right?! 😛  Needless to say, we are the walking wounded, but we keep plugging away!! haha

Then we have the challenges that we cannot really talk about super openly, but I will say, in the face of change it’s an opportunity for us to embrace the challenges that lay ahead and show what we are truly capable of…

As for the suite, we were bumpin yesterday, Kei Nishikori stopped by to grab some Luxilon 4G (that string is getting more and more popular with the players), talked Steam Spin rackets with Vika’s coach Sam, Melanie Oudin stopped by to get her apparel kit & Rush Pro’s and Polona Hercog picked up her gear as well.

One of the suite challenges is for us to keep “THE LOG”… we keep track of the items that players receive….. or at least, we try to keep track! I’m not sure who is worst on getting into the log, me or Clement…. probably me! haha

Another challenge? We have NO OVERGRIP!!! AHHHHH!!!! So we are hoping the rest of our shipment comes in today because players definitely take Pro Overgrip like candy…Hopefully customs let’s our stuff get here so our players kick butt!! 🙂

So women’s qualies start today and we will be checking out our booth space for the tournament.

Until later,

Happy New Year tennis heads!!

So it’s been an incredible holiday… I visited the Philippines for the first time in 15 years.  It truly was an amazing experience to be back in the “homeland” and get to spend time with all my aunts, uncles and cousins…. I had so much fun seeing everyone and definitely have a new appreciation for my heritage and am even more proud to know who I am and where I came from.

Not only was it great family bonding time (and believe me, I have TONS of family)…. it was a trip of firsts… I ate a balut egg (yeah, like you see on Bizarre foods), ate durian (smells like a foot, tastes like bubble gum), went on a Bangka boat ride, jumped off a cliff, was the 1st ER patient on Jan.1st (will write more on this later) , sang in front of family and yes, I also actually turned off my cell phone and did not work for about 10 days…. It was amazing, but now I am ready to get back into it!!!

So here we go……I am sitting here at the airport getting ready to go from Manila to Hong Kong to Melbourne, Australia…. Not exactly the most direct flight, but that’s all that was available for today so that I can make it in time for Oz Open qualies.  AND on top of that, we were originally supposed to shoot with Milos Raonic on Tuesday, but as things always do, schedules changed, so we are shooting on Monday aka TOMORROW!!!!!…. So I arrive midnight and need to be ready to go bright and early…. Only thing is I am a bit nervous as I am not sure if the stuff I have shipped to Oz is even there yet, but guess we’ll see! …..Should be a fun day though, we are going to be in Melbourne for heaven’s sake!!! 🙂

I hope you’ve liked the videos and everything we have put out so far in 2013, we’ve got more exciting and fun stuff to come.

Tomorrow, make sure you check out our 2013 Wilson Tennis Anthem… I won’t say too much, only that it features music by Kaskade… SO KILLER!!! It’s one of my favorite songs and we got to use it! YEAH! 🙂

Make sure to check out our YouTube channel for it:

Time to board…..

Until later,

Give your game the edge

Even though the end of tennis season is nearly here, this is an especially exciting time of year for us at Wilson.  We’re busy preparing to launch all of our new tennis products for 2013. This means tons of new apparel and accessories for the new year and also what many of us are most geeked about – new tennis rackets. We’ve amped up our sticks and we’re incredibly proud of the product that’s about to hit. One racket that’s getting a makeover will be in the hands of Serena, Milos Raonic, Laura Robson and several more players on the Wilson crew in 2013. It’s the new Blade and believe me when I say that it looks GOOD. Lots more details (including full specs) on the new Blades to come, but for now, you have a chance to win and hit the new Wilson Blade rackets before anyone else. To enter, follow @WilsonTennis on Twitter & tweet the following: “@wilsontennis Give my tennis game the edge w/ the new #Blade2013”

See below for more ways to enter and to read the official contest rules. Good luck!

Believe in Hope

Hey there,

Well, it seems more and more difficult to try and make time in the schedule for everything, but I really do enjoy this part and want to try and keep things up to date….I find it rather therapeutic when there is so much going on, think this helps me try to keep perspective….

In the past couple of days, there have been very heavy things going on….It’s with a heavy heart that I write this entry….. as I just found out that two people from Kiwi, where I used to teach, recently passed away. RIP Wendell and Diane, you will definitely be missed…………On top of that, we must keep a very close Wilson family member in our prayers at this time…

Please understand this is by no intention to get preachy… just a bit reflective at this moment, but….Life really teaches us daily…. And right now, WE ALL MUST BELIEVE IN HOPE.

As you know, October is Breast Cancer Awareness month… what you may not know is that Wilson has donated over 2 MILLION dollars to The Breast Cancer Research Foundation. And Wilson’s support of BCRF goes beyond October. Wilson will make the annual donation of $100,000 this year and will make an additional donation to BCRF through the purchase of Wilson HOPE products.

Through the month, you will see our ATP & WTA players showing their support for BCRF during Breast Cancer Awareness month by wearing PINK HOPE wristbands using HOPE vibrasorbs and HOPE bags through the month. (Look out for a sneak peak of a 2013 HOPE bag on our Wilson Exclusive ladies)

An interesting fact, breast cancer is second leading cause of cancer deaths in women…clearly this is an important and worthy cause, so PLEASE SHOW YOUR SUPPORT….GO PINK and BELIEVE IN HOPE!!!

Hope is such a great message for Breast Cancer Awareness month and beyond… And so for this entry, I leave you with a few of my favorite hope quotes and ask that you share this message of hope.

Thank you

Until later,

Hope itself is like a star- not to be seen in the sunshine of prosperity, and only to be discovered in the night of adversity – Charles H Spurgeon

Rock it out!!

Hey there,

Well it’s Friday, last day of qualies, and it feels like I have already been here an eternity and the main draw hasn’t even started yet!!
Maybe it’s a hangover still left from last years US Open?! LOL

The last couple of days have been super productive, we have been working on things to show just how much Wilson is involved in the US Open. Wilson and the USTA have been great partners for over 30 years… we have been the Official Ball for 34 years and we are also the Official Stringer for the tournament. We also run a store on site that is located in Armstrong. One thing you may not know is that almost everyone that works in Wilson HQ in Chicago works the Wilson store. It is our opportunity to make sure we connect with the tennis fans/players and get feedback so we always can improve and make the best products possible. It’s uber hardwork for 3 weeks, but everyone is awesome at it!! Come say hello!! 🙂

Being in NY always has a certain amount of energy that no other city in the world has and the US Open brings the best out of the city in a time of the year. Most people are normally in the Hamptons chillin, but everyone comes back to see the best tennis players rock it out in Flushing!!!

Players have pretty much arrived: Serena Williams, Roger Federer, Victoria Azarenka, Mardy Fish, Grigor Dimitrov, Milos Raonic, Philipp Kohlschreiber, have all been on site practicing and doing their sponsor commitment events in the city.

Last night was nice for me as I managed to have dinner with my Mom and my uncle who live here in NY and on my way back to the hotel, I ran into Andrea Petkovic!!! Andrea was on her way back to her hotel from the Taste of Tennis which is a fun foodie event. I know I said this in a blog prior, but I’m just really happy to see her back on tour, she is such a good person for the WTA as she is not afraid to show her personality, ham it up a bit when needed and just all in all have fun and enjoy it!! She is a ROCKSTAR and it’s GREAT to have her back.

Anyway, Robin and I are at the hotel now, editing video and making sure we have stuff ready for next week.  Later today we will shoot stuff for our HOPE campaign (more to come on that) and we will be going to MSG for a special announcement later this evening.

Until later,

Feliciano Lopez & Milos Raonic have fun before their practice

Feliciano Lopez & Milos Raonic have fun before their practice

Shocking, but the bad sleep patterns continue.

It’s 3:24am and answering emails, posting for Facebook & Twitter while watching Conan O’Brien highlights…. a typical Friday night in Roma!! 😉

So today was uber crazy shooting …. sometimes when we do photoshoots, it can be very challenging…. the players are always great, but to be able to shoot on a tournament site… well it’s less than ideal.

There can be issues with access getting on courts, timing around players practice schedules, making sure we have the right crew so the player is comfortable, lighting around specific courts & time of day, making sure we capture the needed shots, etc…..

Good news is, we think we came out on top!!! 🙂

We were able to get some great help from Michele Montalbini from Wilson Italy who assisted with the court situation and we shot Milos Raonic, Feliciano Lopez, Flavia Pennetta, Marina Erakovic, Corinna Dentoni, Vasek Pospisil and many more….. the players were awesome and we even saw Feli and Milos have a bit of fun playing mini tennis with their coaches. One thing about the ATP Tour is that the guys practice together often and you see great camaraderie to push each other to get better. Two great Wilson guys that always support Wilson through and through.

The tennis facility where the tournament is held is the most beautiful and incredible thing I have seen. I never played the tournament here, but I was told they have renovated the facility a few yrs ago and it’s amazing. For the first time in my life I wanted to take a photo of a tennis court!!! They have a sunken court that is surrounded by these fabulous statues and the seating is ALL MARBLE… yes, a tennis court that has marble!! Simply amazing……..

Now we have to get Petra Kvitova & Philipp Kohlschreiber lined up for today, but no confirmed time yet… we have to run and gun this day!!! 🙂

Until later,
