Action & HOPE

Philipp Kohlschreiber believes in HOPE

Philipp Kohlschreiber believes in HOPE

Hey there,

Well, it’s been a super long week filled with tons of shooting video, meetings with partners and agents…..we still have another week to go!!! I am not really sure where to start this blog as there has been TONS going on….  so I play it safe and let’s start with RF 🙂

Yesterday we met with Roger Federer’s agent Tony Godsick to review marketing for the GOAT for 2013 and it went well. One of the cool things that I have been doing is writing script ideas for potential tv ads. I have always written scripts but in the past it has been for me to film with a Flip Cam and now we are discussing about filming my scripts with the GREATEST EVER to play the game….Slight upgrade! 🙂 Tony loved the script and had positive things to say…. pretty cool that someone I have respected for so many years (known him since I was a kid) likes my work. I am so psyched at the idea that something I personally wrote  just may make tv….wow, THAT would be AMAZING.

So in addition, we have been also working on putting together our HOPE campaign for Breast Cancer Awareness Month in October. What you may not know is that Wilson has donated over 2 million dollars to Breast Cancer Research Foundation (BCRF) and has been involved with the charitable foundation for over 10 years. To show our support, we will have our tour players using Wilson HOPE products through the month of October. Players like Feliciano Lopez and Philipp Kohlschreiber were so excited to start showing their support  of BCRF that they started wearing our pink HOPE wristbands here at the US Open!!!

We will make an official announcement later in the month, but pretty cool to already see players get behind it. It’s a great cause and we encourage everyone to join us in wearing pink HOPE through the month of October.

Other than that, juniors starts today and Laura Robson is looking to continue her great run as she takes on Stosur. As you know, part of the celebration of Laura’s success was I had to make a Gangnam style video, but it was way too crazy to put online… I tried to recreate the toilet part of the Gangnam style video and it might be just the most awkward and odd moment of shooting I’ve ever had…Robin, so sorry… lol …. So I showed it to Laura and she laughed, I think…it was super bad, but I thought that bathroom humor is always funny right?! 🙂

So since I cannot show you the Gangnam style video, I made a new Mercedes commercial with Roger Federer. Check it out 😉

Until later,

Roger Federer makes history with the Wilson Pro Staff tennis racket

Wilson tour player and 17-time Grand Slam record holder Roger Federer set a new all-time record today by becoming the first male tennis player to hold the world no. 1 ranking for 287 weeks total. Federer owns a plethora of historic records — each won with a Wilson tennis racket — and continues to surpass the legends of the game. Today, Federer beats Pete Sampras’ reign for most consecutive weeks on top of the ATP World Tour.

“To surpass my tennis idol’s record at this point in my career is an incredible feeling,” said Federer. “I have played some of my best tennis this year and am so fortunate to be a part of this sport that I love so much.”

Since January, Federer has been playing with his Wilson Pro Staff 90 tennis racket and reclaimed the world no. 1 ranking after his extraordinary match against Andy Murray in the men’s final at Wimbledon.

Federer has already won five titles this year and is guaranteed to hold the no. 1 ranking leading into the London Olympic Games later this month.

“Roger is an inspiration for all of us and should be as well for sports enthusiasts and professionals in all sports,” said Wilson General Manager Jon Muir. “His signature style and persona make him one of the most respected athletes of all time. We congratulate Roger on this wonderful achievement. Wilson is proud to have been part of this journey from the very beginning.“

I am going to start this post out with some cheese……..

Tennis is a battle, a one on one war, mano e mano combat…..

There is something so special about the fight, the guts, the heart you have to find that only tennis brings out of you, physically and emotionally… your insides are tested on the biggest stages, in front of hundreds of thousands, millions watching, in the biggest moments… RESPECT IT…. these players are great.

Roger Federer showed the heart of a true champion today… everyone was counting him out after losing the first two sets, saying he hasn’t been in good form, he’s a step slow, blah blah blah… I really love every time he proves all the critics wrong and elevates his game and makes all of us remember once again why he is probably the greatest to ever play the game.

Unfortunately, it came at the expense of another Wilson player Juan Martin Del Potro, but it really is awesome to see Roger use his Pro Staff racket to once again reach the semis of a Slam and continue to do his thing. How do you know that Roger is beyond even the most gifted tennis players? Well, when you are in the players lounge and you see other players asking him for a photo and everyone is just a bit in awe watching his practice…. well, that’s pretty d**n special.  You don’t see players watching other players practicing in their spare time… except when Roger is practicing…I think people across the globe are hoping he can get at least one more Slam under his belt and of course, the Olympic gold.

It’s a big year for him and all our players and it’s a blast watching them fight for the big moments.

On a less intense note, check out Next Gen’r Vasek Pospisil’s Inside the Life from Paris. The young Canadian has a really nice complete game, a good all courter and also side note, he’s got former Wilson player Frederic Niemeyer as his coach, so he’s in good hands. It will be fun watching him develop from good and see if he can fight to become great…

Cheers to tennis and what it reveals!! 🙂

Until later,

ROGER FEDERER HAS THE PERFECT FEEL- Federer Wins Australian Open Title with New BLX Racket

Roger Federer used his Wilson Six.One Tour BLX tennis racket to win the 2010 Australian Open title

Federer Wins Australian Open Title with New BLX Racket

New decade, new racket, new record. Playing with his new Wilson Six.One Tour BLX tennis racket, Roger Federer proved once again why he is the greatest tennis player of all time. Federer’s 2010 Australian Open win marks his 16th Grand Slam title, surpassing his own all-time record of 15 major titles.

Federer’s continued success is due in part to Wilson’s ever evolving technology and BLX is no exception. Federer switched to his new Six.One Tour BLX racket at the beginning of 2010. “Wilson continues to provide rackets with the most cutting edge technology and this racket really gives me the extra feel I look for,” Federer said after claiming the title. “My new BLX racket provides me with the extra edge I needed to succeed.”

The #1 player in the world stayed strong throughout the entire match in Rod Laver Arena winning 6-3, 6-4, 7-6 (11). Federer broke Murray’s serve twice in the opening set and once in the second. Federer rallied from 5-2 down in the third, breaking Murray when he served in attempt to push the match into a fourth set.

Federer solidified his #1 ranking for a 268th week and tied Jimmy Connors in third place on the all-time list. Since 2004, he has reached at least the semi-finals of every Grand Slam. He continued his Grand Slam streak with a 23rd consecutive semi-final appearance.

“It’s an incredible feeling to continue this streak and my success at Grand Slams,” Federer said. “This 16th title means the world to me and I hope to keep this streak alive.”

Once again, Federer has raised the bar in the game of tennis and provide another benchmark for his competitors to work harder, play better and achieve more. He is still No.1 in the world and even with competition snapping at heels everyday, the legacy continues.
