Laura Robson celebrates after defeating Clijsters

Laura Robson celebrates after defeating Clijsters

Hey there,

Well yesterday was an awesome day for the Wilson team. Our Next Gen’rs Laura Robson and Kristina Mladenovic had the bigest wins of their careers thus far. Laura beat Clijsters and Kristina beat 17th seed Palv—– I can’t spell her name cause it’s way too long!! LOL It’s great to see our Next Gen’rs come into their own and play the tennis they are truly capable of playing!!

Only one problem with them doing well? Well, I sort of told Laura that I would do the Gangnam style dance in honor of a big win….. now I have to find MC Hammer pants and figure out how to pimp out a Gangnam style dance in NYC. LOL Let’s see if I can find the time to get this done today!

Oh and if you haven’t seen the Gangnam style video yet cause you have been living under a rock for the last 3 months, check it out below.

The next couple of days are for editing video and having marketing meetings with player agents to discuss 2013 stuff.

Tomorrow will be an uber fun day with the Nasdaq bell! More info on that later!

Until later,

Tracy

Hey there,

Well it’s Friday, last day of qualies, and it feels like I have already been here an eternity and the main draw hasn’t even started yet!!
Maybe it’s a hangover still left from last years US Open?! LOL

The last couple of days have been super productive, we have been working on things to show just how much Wilson is involved in the US Open. Wilson and the USTA have been great partners for over 30 years… we have been the Official Ball for 34 years and we are also the Official Stringer for the tournament. We also run a store on site that is located in Armstrong. One thing you may not know is that almost everyone that works in Wilson HQ in Chicago works the Wilson store. It is our opportunity to make sure we connect with the tennis fans/players and get feedback so we always can improve and make the best products possible. It’s uber hardwork for 3 weeks, but everyone is awesome at it!! Come say hello!! 🙂

Being in NY always has a certain amount of energy that no other city in the world has and the US Open brings the best out of the city in a time of the year. Most people are normally in the Hamptons chillin, but everyone comes back to see the best tennis players rock it out in Flushing!!!

Players have pretty much arrived: Serena Williams, Roger Federer, Victoria Azarenka, Mardy Fish, Grigor Dimitrov, Milos Raonic, Philipp Kohlschreiber, have all been on site practicing and doing their sponsor commitment events in the city.

Last night was nice for me as I managed to have dinner with my Mom and my uncle who live here in NY and on my way back to the hotel, I ran into Andrea Petkovic!!! Andrea was on her way back to her hotel from the Taste of Tennis which is a fun foodie event. I know I said this in a blog prior, but I’m just really happy to see her back on tour, she is such a good person for the WTA as she is not afraid to show her personality, ham it up a bit when needed and just all in all have fun and enjoy it!! She is a ROCKSTAR and it’s GREAT to have her back.

Anyway, Robin and I are at the hotel now, editing video and making sure we have stuff ready for next week.  Later today we will shoot stuff for our HOPE campaign (more to come on that) and we will be going to MSG for a special announcement later this evening.

Until later,

Tracy

Hey there!!!
Well, yesterday was the first day of qualifying at Roland Garros and it was a big day… especially cause it was Mario’s birthday! 🙂  HAPPY BIRTHDAY MARIO!!!

Not sure how important birthdays are to you, but in my mind, they are always important and need to be MEGA memorable. lol  Well, not sure we could top Mario’s celebration for his 30th last year, but we tried our best to make it a fun one…..When you travel so much for work/tennis, you are hardly ever home to celebrate the special occasions with your closest friends, family and all the people you love…  not easy….. our solution last night? Have a great meal and some laughs! 🙂

So  now back to the work talk….the qualies started with the guys yesterday and we had a lot of Next Gen players in action. This is my favorite part of the tournament, watching the up and comers, grind and fight their way. There is something more raw about the fight to get to the top, before they are stars. Don’t think a lot of people realize how many matches you have to win in a lifetime to even reach the Top 200….. Next Gen’rs Filip Krajinovic, David Goffin and Andrey Kuznetsov won which was awesome and today, the girls start.

Yesterday, we were able to get some solid footage with our players…..wow, when I look back to 4 years ago when I started our social media, it was just me shooting video & photo with my little Sony digital camera,  just coming up with random ideas and no one quite understanding, getting blank looks at meetings & people wondering why I have a job (ha!)…. And now, everyone is sooooo into it… everyone/all brands have a Facebook pages, most have social media teams, tweeting is a common term, all marketing groups call themselves ‘digital agencies’ and everyone thinks they are a social media expert….. Let me say that there is NO such thing!!!! The way we communicate today, may not be the way we communicate 3 days from now…..

It was easier in the ‘good ol days’ when people considered social media an experiment, but now everyone weighs in….. I could go on about this for ages… but let’s just say it’ll be extremely interesting to see where social media evolves and shifts to next…..

Today will be a hectic one, we have many of our Next Gen women in action: Ajla Tomlanjovic, Lauren Davis, Elina Svitolina, and many more….and we will try to get some cool stuff with our Wilson Exclusive athletes too….. let’s hope for a warmer Wednesday!!! 🙂

Until later,

Tracy
