Wilson career player and all-time Grand Slam record holder Roger Federer, continued his record-setting run with his 17th Grand Slam victory at the 2012 Wimbledon Championships, defeating Andy Murray in four sets (4-6, 7-5, 6-3, 6-4) for the gentlemen’s singles title.  Playing with the Wilson Pro Staff Six.One 90 racket, Federer marched his way to today’s victory reclaiming the world No. 1 ranking and adding a record 32nd Grand Slam semifinal berth to his respected place in tennis history.

The match, that featured an emotional, energetic crowd, was delayed in the third set, when the roof was closed for inclement weather. Federer, using his well-known precision and power, excelled during the remainder of the match to prevail, especially after a hard-fought game in the third set lasting almost twenty minutes.

“This win is a lifetime achievement,” said Federer. “To win such a hard-fought tournament against the best competitors just prior to the Olympics is incredibly special. I love playing here, especially because this is one of the most historic venues in the sport of tennis.”

“Federer’s win today speaks to his incredible legacy in the sport of tennis,” said Renaud Vallon, global tour director of Wilson Racquet Sports. “He combines his passion, with a fierce competitive spirit, while honoring the rich tradition of the sport of tennis.  He inspires all of us to be the best.”

Wilson owns more Grand Slam titles than any other brand following Federer and Williams’ victories at the 2012 Wimbledon tournament
