Petra Kvitova Overcomes World #1 Safina
Late Saturday night, Petra Kvitova used her Wilson [K]Tour racket to defeat WTA Tour World #1 Safina 6-4, 2-6, 7-6 (5) to reach the 4th round of the US Open.
19 year old, Kvitova used her powerful groundstrokes to keep control of the points and wind up on top of the two hour and thirty four minute thriller.
The victory marks the 1st time Petra has reached the 4th round of the US Open.
2009 has been a successful year for Kvitova as she reached a career high #40 on the WTA Tour earlier this year after she won her first career WTA Tour singles title in Hobart.

Kvitova continues her quest for the US Open title as she takes on Wickmayer from Belgium on Monday.
