Oudin Reaches New Heights
Wilson On the Rise player Melanie Oudin has extended her run at the US Open as she used her [K]Blade Tour racket to score a 3-6, 6-4, 7-5 win over former world number one Sharapova.
17 year old Oudin has won the hearts of New Yorkers and fans everywhere as she has put on impressive and gutsy performances, defeating the 2006 US Open Champion Sharapova, #4 seed Dementieva, and Pavlyuchenkova en route to reaching the 4th round of the US Open for the first time in her career.
American fans have been waiting a long time for a U.S. teenager who looks capable of taking the torch from the Williams sisters and Melanie Oudin looks poised to obtain that position.
“Melanie’s determination carried her through another battle today. She is an inspiring competitor and fans of American tennis have adopted a new star,” says Wilson Tour Manager for the Americas, Adam Schaechterle.
Oudin has sported the word “Believe” near the heel of her pink-and-yellow sneakers and the past few matches have made believers out of many people.
“We have watched Melanie develop from an eager young junior competitor into an endearing newcomer on the WTA Tour,” expressed Schaechterle. “We look forward to supporting her passion to become a champion.”
Melanie Oudin has been a part of the Wilson Team for over 5 years.
Oudin will play Petrova on Monday Sept. 7 at Flushing Meadows
