Oudin and Witten Lead the Way for the United States- Day Four Wilson Recap
Melanie Oudin and Jesse Witten have given U.S. fans something to cheer about.
America’s new tennis teenage sensation Melanie Oudin used her Wilson [K]Blade Tour racket to defeat WTA Tour World #4 Dementieva 5-7 6-4 6-3 at the US Open.
23,000 screaming fans rose to their feet on Arthur Ashe Stadium, as Oudin fired a huge serve to take down Dementieva and reach the third round of the US Open for first time in her young career.
Melanie will now take on Sharapova.
Using his [K]Six-One 95 racket, 26 year old Jesse Witten defeated ATP Tour World #79 Gonzalez 6-7 (3), 6-4, 7-5, 6-2.
Witten has already played five matches, including the three he won in the qualifying rounds and the upset in the first round over No.30-ranked Igor Andreev. This tournament represents many career firsts for Witten as he qualified, won his first tour-level match and has now reached the 3rd round of a major.
Jesse will play ATP Tour World #4 Novak Djokovic in the next round.
Other Wilson notables from day four at the US Open, qualifier Marco Chiudinelli defeated Youzhny in four sets and Sara Errani used her [K]Tour to defeat #19 seed Patty Schnyder 7-5,6-2. Philipp Kohlschreiber, Sorana Cirstea, Petra Kvitova, Kateryna Bondarenko, Anastasia Rodionova also advance to the 3rd round.
