Hey guys, not much to write as the last 3 days has really been spent editing film in a hotel room.

Robin and I have been on lockdown in the room, trying to complete these videos so we can be done and ready to go through Miami.

We watched a bit of tennis on the tv, but really were focused on finishing the videos. Steam is completed and we are really proud of how it turned out.

This morning will be spent trying to get Juice’d finished and doing another voiceover for that video… still needs a bit more pizzazz… lol yes, I said pizzaazzz lol

This is my lat blog from the desert, hope you enjoyed it… here are some of my fav pics from my time here in the desert…. tomorrow it’s off to FL.

Petra Kvitova is one of the hottest players on the WTA Tour.

Petra reached a career high of #14 on the WTA Tour after catching fire, winning her 2nd career title in Brisbane, reaching the Australian Open quarterfinals and then taking the Paris title over World #2 Kim Clijsters.

We caught up with Petra to get her to answer some of your Wilson Facebook fan questions.

Tennis Guru why you and the other best czech players (lucie safarova and iveta benesova) are all lefty!? is it something in czech DNA? something in “czech tennis school”? a tribute to Martina Navratilova (the best lefty ever)? or simply just a coincidence!!???

Petra: I guess it’s just a coisidence that we are all lefty but thanks for the comparison with Martina Navratilova.

Velislav Velinov What would you be doing now, if you weren’t a tennis player?

Petra: I would be probably studying on some czech university but i wasn’t really thinking about it I’m happy I am a tennis player.:)

Jonathan Scott Who was your favorite pro player growing up, or have you modeled your game after a particular past great?

 Petra: Tomas Berdych – czech pro from Prostejov

Max Woitge What are you going to do with the money if you win Australian Open?

First I need to win the money.:)..and then don’t worry about it I will think of something..:)

Martin Kennedy if you could be a chocolate bar, which one would you be and why?

 well I am happy I am not a chocolate bar..:)

Matthias Siegfried Eber when will you get the braces removed?

Petra: I think when my teeth get better.:)

Inside Wilson’s Next Gen….David Goffin

Twenty-year-old David Goffin qualified and reached the the second round of the Aircel Chennai Open by defeating  world #108Devvarman 6-2, 6-4, marking his first ATP Tour win. Goffin, a former top ten junior in the world is a player to watch. We sat down with David to ask him a few questions and get to know this rising star.

What shot feels most natural to you?

I like hitting my backhand down the line.

Do you have a nickname?

La Goff

What is your favorite type of chocolate?

I prefer white chocolate.

Where do you see yourself in 5 years?

I hope to be at the top of the sport competing for Grand Slams.  I have a lot of work to do but that is where I would like to see myself in five years.

What do you love about your Wilson Blade 98 tennis racket?

I feel like my Blade gives me the perfect balance of power and control.  I feel comfortable playing from the anywhere on the court and I think a lot of that has to do with my racquet.

What is the best part of being on the Wilson Team?

Being part of the Wilson team is a great honor because so many good players present and past have used the Red W.  I feel like I am and can be a part of that prestigious history.  It is pretty cool to think about.

Groth swings Wilson BLX to 1^st WTA Tour title

Swinging her Wilson Pro Open BLX racket, Jarmila Groth capped a breakthrough summer winning her first Sony Ericsson WTA Tour title at the Landsky Lighting Guangzhou International Women’s Open tennis tournament.

“I’m feeling great!” exclaimed Groth. “This has been a great year for me…. I’ve had some of my best results with my BLX racket and I want it to continue!”

Groth, who reached the Round of 16 at both the French Open and Wimbledon, was a solid first seed throughout the week in Guangzhou, losing just 15 games total, which marked the least amount of games lost en route to a title this year. She ended the career week off with a 6-1 6-4 win over fellow Wilson player Alla Kudryavtseva. Groth’s title win catapults her into the Top 50 on the WTA Tour rankings for the first time in her career.

“Jarka is having a strong finish to the year and we can only expect for her to build on this great result,” said Massimo Calvelli, Wilson Global Tour Director. “We look forward to watching her have strong 2011.”

How are you going to celebrate the title win? I am here alone so don’t have anybody to celebrate with and also tomorrow I am flying to Seoul where I am playing on Tuesday. But I am sure my husband celebrated it for me with my coach

Who is more competitive, you or your husband? Do you ever get competitive with each other (ie board games, etc.)? We both are very competitive way, too much, so if we want our marriage to work can’t play any games against each other otherwise one of us will get angry

What is the weirdest or funniest Tweet you have ever received?  Funny tweet I got? hmmm Maybe, the one when I was asked if I will play Wimbledon next year?!:) but otherwise I get lots of them who support me which is awesome!!

What do you love about your Wilson Pro Tour BLX racket? I always loved my rackets! I been with Wilson since I started and I can say it’s the best. I love the feeling of it and I always know I can count on it and I know it’s mine and can feel everything I need to and it helps me win!!

Kaia Kanepi upsets #15 seed Wickmayer 0-6 7-6 6-1 to reach her first US Open quarterfinal.

 “It feels amazing,” Kanepi said. “I’ve played some of my best tennis with my Wilson BLX racket and I want to keep it going.”

Kanepi has had an outstanding summer and has continued her great form through Flushing Meadows defeating #4 seed Jankovic and fought her way through today’s match against Wickmayer.

“Kaia’s showing great poise and determination,” said Renaud Vallon, Wilson Tour Manager Europe. “We look forward to seeing watching her take it another step further.”

Kanepi will now take on the winner of Andrea Petkovic/Zvonareva for a spot in the semifinals.

European Junior Champ de Vroome signs with Wilson Sporting Goods

14 year old Indy de Vroome commits to using her Wilson Blade tennis racket for years to come. 

“I love my Wilson racket and cannot imagine playing with anything else,” said the young Dutch player, de Vroome. “Since I switched, Wilson has helped me lift my game to a new level and I think Wilson can continue to help me reach my dream of playing pro tennis.”

The energetic teenager has been on the rise, winning 3 ITF Junior Circuit titles, reaching the finals and semis of two other ITF Junior Circuit events.  Most recently, de Vroome swung her Wilson Blade Team tennis racket to take the European Girls Singles title in the Under 14’s age division.

Rising star Simona Halep reaches her first WTA Tour final

 

Using her Wilson Blade 98 tennis racket, Simona Halep reaches her first WTA Tour final in Fes after defeating Voracova 75 64. In her quarterfinals match, Halep pulled the upset of the tournament as she defeated #2 seed Schnyder in straight sets 6-2 7-6 (3).

“That was a great win for me, it’s been an unbelievable tournament so far and I want to continue my run to the title,” said Halep.

In 2008, Halep was the Roland Garros Girls Singles Champion and has been finding her stride on the WTA Tour of late.

Last week in Marbella, the 18 year old Halep qualified and defeated fellow Wilson players Iveta Benesova and Sorana Cirstea en route to the her first WTA Tour quarterfinal. This week, she took it one step further.

“Simona’s game is explosive and it’s only a matter of time for her to be consistent at the WTA Tour level,” said Wilson Tour Manager Europe, Renaud Vallon.

“We are pleased to have Simona on the Wilson team and are excited to watch her in her make some waves at Roland Garros.”
