Rising Star Guillaume Rufin leads Wilson Team into Australian Open Main Draw

Wilson Rising Star Guillaume Rufin used his Blade 98 tennis racket as he fought his way through three tough qualifying matches to reach the main draw of the Australian Open.

This up and comer is one to watch. In 2009, Rufin reached the second round of the French Open after defeating Schwank in straight sets, won his first ATP World Tour Challenger event and reached a career high #178 on the ATP World Tour. In his Australian Open debut, the 19 yr old Rufin will take on Tomic.

Following Rufin’s lead, Illya Marchenko, Ricardo Hocevar, Ivan Sergeyev and Stefan Koubek also qualified to reach the big show. Turkish player Marsel Ilhan reached the main draw as a lucky loser.

On the women’s side, Shenay Perry used her Six.One 95 BLX racket to make easy work of her opponents and reach the main draw. Perry who struggled with injury the past year, is making great progress with her game and will now play Ivanovic first round.

Also making her way through qualifying was Xinyun Han. 19 year old Han will be making her first Grand Slam main draw appearance when she takes the court against Stosur.

“To win three matches in the scorching heat of Melbourne is never an easy task,” says Global Tour Director, Massimo Calvelli. “It is a great feat to qualify and we look forward to watching our players continue their success in the main draw.”
