Wilson’s 2013 Anthem

Wilson has a new anthem. An anthem for a New Year and for our future. And hey, any anthem wouldn’t be complete without a song to go with it. For that, we picked up the track “Eyes” by Kaskade, an artist who like Wilson HQ, hails from Chicago. This veteran DJ/Producer was born and raised in the Windy City, drawing influence from the new wave sounds of the 70s and growing up at the epicenter of America’s house scene. Now one of the top DJs in the world, Kaskade remains at the forefront of Chicago House, reinterpreting genres and lending tracks to vocalists, re-mixers, and most recently, the Wilson Tennis Anthem!

We’re excited about where we’ve been and where we’re going and we hope you’ll stick with us and enjoy the ride. Let us know what you think of the video!

Hey there,

Well, it has been a great few days…. when work consists of getting to play at the Innovaton Center, going to Piccolo Sogno, sitting on the floor at the Bulls game, playing pool at Rockit, getting a private tour of the Art Institute, eating at Sunda and having a blast with one of our players… YEAH I consider myself pretty lucky.

When I started at Wilson, I did not know a single person here in Chicago and I have been fortunate enough to meet some really cool people in the city who have made my experience here an extremely positive one.

So I would like to take this opportunity to thank these people for not only helping us this week with Grigor Dimitrov’s Chicago adventures, but for also always taking care of me and helping put a smile on my face. Tony Priolo, Ciro Longobardo, Billy Dec, Holli Williams, Carson Kern, Chris Robbins, Chris Dilillo and Erica Hilbert…. THANK YOU.

And to our new friends who we have met through the people mentioned above and helped create some special experiences for Grigor, Vince Pusateri and Chai Lee, Thank you.

As I said in my previous post Grigor Dimitrov is an extremely talented tennis player and on top of that he is a super nice kid….here is what we learned about Grigor this week: he is pretty good with a putter, is a killer pool player (didn’t miss a shot), loves art that has skulls & angels and most importantly, he is TONS OF FUN! It was a blast to have him in Chicago and it’s GREAT to have him on the Wilson team!!!

I am extremely excited to share the video with you next week, so it’s into the editing room we go!!!

You ready Chris, Chris and Erica?!

Until later,

Tracy

Hey there,

Hope this entry finds everyone well. It’s been a while but I have good excuses! ;P

So I just got back from San Diego as I joined the Wilson crew at the last stop of our tour to show off our new 2013 tennis rackets to partners, dealers/retailers and a few select juniors and club players. It was super insightful to hear the feedback on our products and to see everyone get psyched about our new revolutionary racket technology. We also had the Tennis Channel there to check it out, which was rad! I am not going to get into detail about it just yet, but let’s just say the words of Dead or Alive, these new Wilson tennis rackets “SPIN YOU RIGHT ROUND!!!” ;)

And you will definitely hear more about it in the weeks to come…. but if you are super eager, you might want to keep an eye on Tennis Channel! ;)

But for now, let’s talk about my Wilson peeps…… we have all been grinding it hard, giving that one big final push to the end of year and making sure we are lined up properly to have a great 2013. The tough part? Saying Ciao to a couple of my favorite people, Mario Vergara & his wife Melissa. They have been a big part of enjoying Chicago and I will definitely miss them! Between them and Kenny leaving, I feel a bit abandoned…. The good news, there are some additions to the team to help us continue to grow in the online space and give a different perspective on the tennis life. In the next weeks, you will see entries and postings from our new Digital Specialist, Lauren Adermann. Please welcome her! :) I’m really excited to have another person to work closely with and we will also have another new member to the team, Anna, who will start in the next few weeks.

It’s been an extremely crazy 6-8 month GRIND, but seems like everything is finally coming together…

I have been quite reflective these past few weeks (might have something to do with getting a year older!) but I feel really lucky to have found my rhythm here in Chicago. The people I work with, the friends I have made, have really made it a fun experience. As most of my friends and family know, I am not a ‘winter lover’ and am a serious creature of habit, but right now I’m having a blast and can’t imagine being anywhere else.

I feel lucky to go to work and being excited to work with the team, bustin it, laughing and have intellectual debates on what we should do. If you enjoy and respect the people you work with, it’s a huge bonus. (Not sure if the crew feel the same about me, but anyway… ha) And out of the office, I have my spots. Piccolo Sogno AT LEAST once a week…Tony and Ciro are the best!!!! And Billy’s  Sunda & Underground when I feel like misbehaving… lol

Not sure why, but I have been always fortunate enough to have people look after me and they let me experience some cool s**t with them……and you will get to see  some of it coming up when Grigor Dimitrov hits Chicago with Wilson!! :) ….. More to come on that….

Until later,

Tracy

Go Ninja Go Ninja GO!

Of course we need Wilson MORE WIN flags for our meeting!

Of course we need Wilson MORE WIN flags for our meeting!

Hey there,

Well, this has been the longest time I have gone without really doing any heavy lifting on social media EVER.

Thanks to that ‘little’ event in London and due to rules, we were not allowed to talk about our players, events and everything…. so I’ve had a 3 week Wilson social media vaca and officially I will get to speak about those results in three days… :)

For now, I will talk more about inside Wilson. So what you may or may not know is that my position has morphed to Wilson Tennis Hardgoods Marketing Manager. What does that mean? Well, it seems like I do everything I was doing before and A LOT of additional new stuff! haha All joking aside, I am learning new things and getting to be more ‘hands on’ with how we go to market to YOU, our players… my main focus is with tennis rackets and in a way, my job just kind of extended and grew wings…..I am working more on future stuff instead of the in the moment things… but because social media is so important, seems like this change helps everything be more cohesive.
The best part of this promotion is that I have had the opportunity to work more closely with the EVERYONE in the office. I’m loving not just being in my own world. Most of my communication in the past has purely been through the iPhone with Twitter and Facebook… that was my ‘sanity’!! :) I’m enjoying the new gig, and soon we’ll see if the rest of the office does! They are definitely not used to having me around this much!!! haha

The change really has given me the opportunity to travel less and enjoy Chicago more both personally and professionally.

This past weekend was amazing. A few of us went to our first Comic Con on Friday and got some killer pictures with Storm Troopers, Spiderman, Penguin and more. Then Erika and I planned on paddle boarding yesterday, but it was too choppy and by chance we caught a Vanilla Ice concert and got a photo!! He actually took it with my phone cause I got too excited and deleted the original one I took… lol yes, I freaked out for Vanilla Ice as people do for Federer.. come on now,  Ice Ice Baby and Go Ninja were the best back in the day!! LOL

We have been working tirelessly to get things ready for our meeting which starts tomorrow. We just set up the stage tonight and I’ve been working on a few 2013 things that I am super psyched about…. I am especially motivated by the videos we did and I can only can hope that the US team thinks they are as good as we think it is!!

Ok, I am rambling cause I am super nervous and excited for our internal show…..

Fingers crossed and will write more tomorrow.

Until later,

Tracy

PS. For those who always say I have the best job, well, now is your chance to work at Wilson and with me! BEWARE!! ;) Click link for info on  Digital Specialist position

Music, Memories & Tennis Players

Happy Memorial Day to all our American Wilson Tennis people out there!

Thank you to all the great men and women who have served our great country & protect our freedom.

Ok, so it’s 80 degrees and Chicago is coming alive! We hit the courts today (almost passed out, but whatever!) and it started getting me a bit nostalgic of the times I spent on court, all the tournaments, off court shenanigans, the matches I played, the memories that are built around tennis. It seems to me with every great memory or moment, I can always recall a song that reminds me of that time in my life.

A trip to Italy when I was 16, playing French warm up tournaments in Santa Croce listening to Dr.Dre & Led Zep before matches (weird combo, I know)……watching one of my friends have to squat a bike rack cause the coach was unhappy she lost to Clijsters (he said she sucked, ha) and I was listening to Tom Petty laughing…

You get the idea…..now since we are deep into the French Open and leading into the summer, Wimby ahead….we wanted to share with you a great Summer Vacation Mix by our friends at Crossfader King & Dj Matt Roan.

Download it here!!! Make your own moments with this great mix.

Hope your summer is filled with great memories, aces and thunderous beats!

Until later, Tracy

No doubt, the boys had fun shooting this video as much as I did! :)
