Free Clinic with Wilson Player Dmitry Tursunov

Hey web world,

Well, it’s been super busy since returning from London. This is a positive since RF won the big 15 and seems like quite a few of our players have had success in the past week or so. Congrats to Roger Federer, Andy Ram, Jonathan Erlich, Flavia Pennetta, Monica Niculescu, Jordan Kerr and Agnes Szavay!!! Go Wilson Team!!! :)

We have had discussions about what’s up for the next few months and 2010, so hopefully it’ll psych people up to get on the courts!

So it’s been great to be at Wilson HQ for a week or so….but now it’s back on the road for me.

This weekend we have Dmitry Tursunov doing a free clinic at the Avila Bay Athletic Club and Spa in Avila Beach, CA on Friday July 17th at 5pm.

If you are in the area and want to participate, please email wilsontour@wilson.com

Dmitry is one of the most personable guys on tour, so looking forward to having him get adults and kids amped about tennis!!

Have a great day and we will be back with some photos of the event.

Until later,

Tracy

Wilson Players Collect Titles

It was a successful week of tennis for Wilson Tour Team players.

Using his [K]Six-One Tour, ATP World Tour #181 Rajeev Ram became the first lucky loser this year to win an ATP World Tour title when he defeated  #3 seed Querry 6-7(3), 7-5, 6-3 in the final of the Campbell’s Hall of Fame Tennis Championships in Newport. Afterwards, Ram continued his dream week as he clinched the doubles title alongside fellow Wilson player Jordan Kerr.

“I can’t put into words what this week has been like,” said Ram. “I was satisfied to win the singles but to come back and win the doubles with Jordan made it an unbelievable tournament for me. I am so happy for Jordan to win here for the fifth time.”

It was the fifth title in Newport for Kerr, who is 9-2 lifetime in ATP World Tour doubles finals, and the second of the season for Ram, who won in Chennai (w/ Eric Butorac) in January. Kerr, who uses the [K]Six-One 95, owns an 18-1 career record in Newport and Vijay Armitraj is the only other player in tournament history to appear in five finals.

On the WTA Tour in Budapest, hometown favorite Agnes Szavay swung her [K]Blade Team to capture her third Sony Ericsson WTA Tour singles title and the first since September 2007. Agnes defeated 1st seed Schnyder 2-6 6-4 6-2 in the final.

In doubles, Monica Niculescu used her [K]Pro Open to take her first ever WTA Tour title as she and partner Kleybanova defeated Wilson players Kateryna and Alona Bondarenko 64 76(5) for the Budapest Doubles Title.

Using her [K]Blade 98, Flavia Pennetta and Dulko teamed up to defeat Martínez Sánchez and Llagostera Vives 6-2 0-6 10-5 match tie-break win in the Bastad Doubles Final. This victory gave Pennetta and Dulko their third title together. Flavia now owns six WTA Tour Doubles Titles to her name.

“We are proud of Rajeev, Agnes, Monica, Jordan and Flavia’s achievements this past week,” said Massimo Calvelli, Wilson Tour Director. “Each of this week’s victors plays with a different Wilson racket. It is wonderful to know that we are able to provide equipment that best suites each individuals game style and needs.”

Thought you might find this kinda cool or cute.

Life is full of surprises! I believe Melanie has done a good job of surprising a few people when she defeated Jankovic!!

Go Melanie!

Wilson On the Rise Players Levine and Oudin Hit Career Firsts to Keep US Hopes Alive

Wilson On the Rise Players Jesse Levine and Melanie Oudin Hit Career Firsts to Keep US hopes Alive

Wilson On the Rise players Jesse Levine and Melanie Oudin will be in Wimbledon action on Saturday June 27, 2009. Both facing seeded players, Jesse and Melanie will need to continue their streak of big upsets to keep US hopes alive.

After making his way through qualifying, Jesse Levine has had his most rewarding tournament to date, reaching the 3rd round of a Grand Slam for the first time in his career. The 21 year old lefty Jesse used his [K]Six-One 95 racket to dismantle the always dangerous 14th seed Safin in four sets. On Thursday, after being up two sets to love, Levine defeated Cuevas in a thrilling five set match. Jesse will now take now on 19th seed Wawrinka.

Using her [K]Blade Tour, Melanie Oudin has reached the 3rd round of a Grand Slam for the first time in her career. Melanie has already spent quite a bit of time on court, winning three rounds in qualifying and grinding out a total of 13 sets to date. Coming back from behind, Oudin defeated 29th seed Bammer 64 46 62 and then overcame Shvedova 36 62 64. Melanie now faces Jankovic.

“Jesse and Melanie have already had some success at the tour level, but we are excited about them reaching this Grand Slam career milestone,” said Adam Schaechterle, Wilson Tour Manager Americas. “We look forward to supporting them as they contend for titles in the years to come.”
